Reflexology & Hot Stone Reflexology

Reflexology

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a popular non-invasive Complementary Therapy based on the theory that different points on your feet, known as reflex points, correspond to different areas of your body. By applying gentle pressure to these reflex points the body's self-healing mechanism is activated, helping you to relax and rebalance your entire body, returning it to a state of homeostasis.

It is kind of like giving your body an MOT, and because Reflexology is a Holistic treatment it targets your Mind, Body and Spirit simultaneously.

Can Reflexology Help me?

Reflexology does not claim to diagnose, prescribe or cure. You are unique and as such your experience will be very individual to you. Reflexology works Holistically with your body, therefore it is not possible to know in advance how you will react. The theory is that Reflexology helps the body to restore balance naturally.

How will it make me feel?

Many people choose Reflexology simply because it's a great relaxing therapy and it makes them feel really good!

The session itself is really relaxing and calming. Usually after a Reflexology session there is often a great feeling of well being, and any tensions should be reduced and you will likely feel much more relaxed. People report sleeping better, that their mood is improved and there is a general sense of improved wellbeing and a reduction in stress levels. You may also find that other aspects improve too, however this happens on an individual basis.

Hot Stone Reflexology

Reflexology

Hot stone reflexology combines the benefits of an individual reflexology treatment with a number of different sized smaller warmed basalt stones to enable deep stimulation of the reflex points for a relaxing and deeply rejuvenating full body treatment.

The heat from the stones quickly opens the energy pathways to make this treatment extremely relaxing and by working on the reflexes of the feet, your body will feel restored, balanced and revitalised.

It is estimated that one stroke with a stone is worth five strokes with the hand, thus Hot Stones reflexology is calculated to be five times deeper and last five times longer than a conventional treatment with the hands alone! The heat from the stones improves the relaxation response and increases healing through improved blood flow and circulation. The stones can also be used cold to help ease inflammation, cool muscles and heal.

The effects and potentials benefits of Hot Stones include:

  • heat penetrates to a much deeper level than finger pressure, and may reach up to 7-8cms into the superficial layer of muscle. This brings about physiological changes as well as improving energy flow
  • improved blood circulation & lymphatic drainage
  • promotes the release & elimination of toxins
  • boosts immunity and the lymphatic function
  • relieves tension in connective tissues
  • reduces muscular tension which will help muscles to relax and repair more efficiently
  • it is warming, deeply relaxing & soothing helping to melt away any tension or anxiety
  • helps to bring about a balance of body as well as mind
